(REVIEW) Whipped Coconut Milkshake by Bath & Body Works

Bath & Body Works Whipped Coconut Milkshake is a new fragrance from the “Salt Shack” collection and released in 2023 during the Summer Semi Annual Sale (SAS). This scent is Limited Edition which was only available during SAS.

Everyone was scrambling around Social Media when the announcement of it came out, and as a gourmand lover, I was definitely there for it!

The website wrote what it smells like being a tropical twist on everyone's favourite diner dessert! And the fragrance notes are truly a gourmand lover's dream! It has Vanilla Ice Cream, Toasted Coconut, and Sugared Amber, and I’m a sucker for Coconut, Amber, and Vanilla, so as soon as I read the fragrance notes I knew I had to get it, I knew I had to stock up!

It took literally two and a half months to arrive as I had to preorder from my trusted seller from the US and have it shipped out to the Philippines. It was crazily overhyped and I was excited to try it but let me tell you, it’s an okay fragrance for me, does it deserve to be overhyped? Maybe? Maybe after a couple of years when the scent becomes more concentrated, then yeah, it deserves to be overhyped, but not today!

Okay, so let me tell you and describe how each of the variants smell to me, it only has three body care variants which are the Body Cream, Fine Fragrance Mist, and the Shower Gel. It doesn’t have a body lotion which I was upset about but, it is what it is.

  1. First up is the Fine Fragrance Mist, and to me It gave off a very warm sensation as opposed to it being a “Milkshake”, and that warm sensation is coming from the Sugared Amber, it is sweet and it is also too heavy on the Toasted Coconut, there’s a slight coconut husk scent, and it’s probably because of the combination of the Amber with the Toasted Coconut.. And speaking of that Vanilla Ice Cream note, it only comes out during the drydown, it becomes this creamy decadent Vanilla Ice Cream smell sprinkled with Toasted Coconut on top. The smell in the mist is super long lasting on my skin, in fact, it lasted on my skin about 6 hours when layered with the Body Cream.

  1. Now, onto the Body Cream, I’m not a huge fan of Body Creams, one reason is they go bad more easily than the lotions, and I always stock up on lotions.. the smell is just the same with how I describe the smell on the fragrance mist, only it has more Toasted Coconut and Amber smell with only a tiny trace of Vanilla.

  1. The third variant, which is the Shower Gel, is my absolute favorite when it comes to the smell, and I’m glad I stocked up. The shower gel smells more creamy Vanilla Coconut Ice Cream, there’s only a slight hint of amber in it, and it is so decadent smelling that I just don’t want to get out of the shower. It smells almost similar to Coconut Cream Pie and I thought I was going to be disappointed with how faint the smell was in the shower, but I soon as I rinsed and dried my skin, that’s when the smell comes out, it was having a late reaction on my body chemistry which I fully accept because that decadent Vanilla Ice Cream smell stayed on my skin! Now I don’t know how this performs on other people but to me it is an absolute favorite!

If I have to rank all the variants of this scent, I will put the Shower Gel in the first place, followed by the Fine Fragrance Mist, and the Body Cream comes last.

And for layering combinations, I suggest pairing it with the following scents listed:

  • B&BW Coconut Cream Pie

  • B&BW Wrapped In Vanilla

  • B&BW Cinnamon Donut Swirl

  • VS Vanilla Sapphire Orchid

  • VS Bare Vanilla LUXE

  • VS Moon Spiced Apple

  • B&BW Midnight Amber Glow

  • B&BW JOY: Sugared Snickerdoodle

  • SDJ Cheirosa 71

If you plan on purchasing it, I suggest trying it out in stores or if you live in the Philippines like me, there are a lot of resellers that sell it in Decant 5ML to 30ML bottles.

It is not safe for Blind Buy to be honest, sorry! But the smell is kinda growing on me, have you smelled it too? Tell me what you think! I’d love to hear!
